JerkStopper: Power cord “cable retention” for your laptop
Saturday, February 9th, 2008
While Apple may have the fancy MagSafe connector to help avoid the notebook being dragged of that table after someone trips over your power cord, the JerkStopper seems to do just the opposite. The JerkStopper acts as a “cable retention device” by securing your power cord from coming unplugged from your notebook. It is designed to make sure the power cord does not get damaged should someone pull it to hard.
The JerkStopper is available in a few variations, one to fit in a spare USB port, RJ11 or RJ45 jack. You plug the jack into your notebook, then run the cable through the JerkStopper and close it in with the cover. They are available in sets of 3 for the low price of $9.95. Its a good thing they are inexpensive, this way you will have more money left over to repair that damaged notebook. Because these seem to ensure that your notebook will take a tumble should someone trip over the cord.

It’s quite a well-known fact that the color can change people’s mood and attitude to something. A lot of researches were made in order to obtain more detailed information about the influence of the color on people. So, at present scientists know a great deal about it. That’s why architects, producers and designers have started to pay even more attention to the color of buildings, goods and etc. Taking into consideration this fact Philips decided to produce a device that would give people an opportunity to change the color of the light whenever they want.
Let’s face it, most belts are boring. The only saving grace for these boring belts is to sass it up with a custom belt buckle. Problem is, most belt buckles either range from the death skull (or the ones that say “f*ck”) to giant rodeo style buckles that would feel more at home on the back of a bull or bronco than walking down the street. And let’s face it, no self-respecting geek would be caught dead in a rodeo style belt buckle.
In a snowball fight, accuracy is not everything as you also need to have an abundant amount of ammunition to wear down the opposing team. With the Sno-Baller, things could turn the tide in your favor pretty soon.
It wasn’t a pretty end for Amp’d Mobile, but even the hasty one-week extension of service, sale of customers to Prexar and asset liquidation wasn’t enough to keep creditors at bay — the bankrupt company is now suing after its former CEO for cash. Claiming that Peter Adderton “refused to perform certain aspects of his employment” and “threatened to take action that would damage” Amp’d, the lawsuit seeks some $1.15M in payments made. Amp’d is also going after some 20 other partners in similar suits, ranging from Merrill Lynch to law firm Latham and Watkins to Playboy and MTV. We’re not sure how that’s going to play out, but it looks like those rumors about the content team and properties like “Lil’ Bush” being sold off are definitely true — William Morris is in charge of shopping the group out to the highest bidder. All in all, it looks like Amp’d’s creditors aren’t being shy about getting their cash — but what repo man ever is?
